Frustrated Bradford boss Phil Parkinson admitted his side could not have given much more in their 1-0 defeat to Port Vale.
The game's winning goal came against the run of play in the 37th minute when Tom Pope intercepted a headed back-pass from Bradford skipper Gary Jones before beating keeper Jon McLaughlin with a left-footed shot.
Bradford, unbeaten in their previous five league and cup matches, dominated the game but failed to find a way through a strong Vale defence, with 'keeper Chris Neal also in fine form.
Parkinson said: "It's frustrating to lose, but I don't think we could have done much more. We started terrifically well and then conceded a bad goal, but that didn't really affect us. There were so many crosses into the box and so many opportunities but it didn't work for us in front of goal.
"I couldn't fault the lads. They played really well. Some of the football in the first half was exceptional. We looked a good side and our fitness levels were superb.
"We kept going and our numerous crosses and attempts on goal would have usually given us two or three goals, but Port Vale defended really well. We put them through it all over the pitch."
