Crystal Palace earned only its second away victory in the English Premier League when substitute Dwight Gayle scored in injury time to beat Aston Villa 1-0 on Thursday.

Gayle, sent on with about 25 minutes to go, attacked from the left side, dribbled around Fabian Delph and unloaded into the top corner, stunning everyone.

Villa made most of the running but struggled to put a threatening shot on target, while Palace was scary on the counter.

Villa, walking off to boos, slumped to a fourth straight defeat.
