Two games in a four-day span for the U.S. national team weren't enough to get Oguchi Onyewu back into consideration for AC Milan.

The 28-year-old wasn't selected Friday to dress for AC Milan's Serie A match against Chievo Verona on Saturday.

Onyewu started for the U.S. in exhibitions last weekend against Poland and on Tuesday against Colombia.

He scored against the Poles and got his first start as American captain against the Colombians.

Onyewu has not dressed for AC Milan since left knee surgery on Oct. 14 last year, seven days after tearing his patellar tendon during a World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica.

He has played for the national team seven times since returning from the injury, including starts against England and Slovenia at the World Cup.

Since signing with AC Milan before the 2009-10 season, his only competitive club appearance was as a 60th-minute substitute against Zurich in the Champions League on Sept. 30 last year.
