Police say a bus full of Brescia fans crashed after the club was eliminated in the semifinals of the Serie B promotion playoffs, killing one person and injuring several others.
The bus was traveling in a convoy of buses back to Brescia from Livorno, where Brescia played Sunday night.
An official at the highway police in Brescia says the bus, carrying some 50 fans, overturned at around 4 a.m. near Manerbio, killing a 23-year-old fan. Two of the injured were in serious condition at local hospitals. The official said the driver survived.
The Serie B playoffs will determine the final promotion to Serie A. With Brescia eliminated, the two-leg final will be Empoli vs. Livorno.
