On-loan Sturridge gives Bolton 1-0 win over Wolves
On-loan forward Daniel Sturridge scored in injury time of his Bolton debut Wednesday to give his new club a 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers and its first victory in six Premier League games.
Visiting goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey excelled until a disastrous back pass from Ronald Zubar gave the Chelsea striker an easy chance he could not miss.
Wolves had only just hit the post through Kevin Doyle and missed a chance by Matt Jarvis. Instead of scoring, Wolves dropped to the bottom of the standings.
After a scrappy start, the first chance came in the seventh minute when American midfielder Stuart Holden swung in a cross for Johan Elmander - but the Sweden forward did not generate enough power on his header and Lee Chung-yong put the ball over the bar at the far post.
But after both teams failed to make the breakthrough, Sturridge came on with 23 minutes remaining and made the difference.
