San Lorenzo coach Omar Asad resigned on Monday with the famous Buenos Aires club in danger of being relegated to the second division.

The resignation came a day after San Lorenzo fell 1-0 to Union, one of the newly promoted teams in the Argentine first division.

San Lorenzo has only 15 points from 15 matches, 18 fewer than league-leading Boca Juniors.

The Buenos Aires club is traditionally considered one of five biggest in Argentine football along with Boca Juniors, River Plate, Racing Club and Independiente.
