Olic out up to 8 weeks with new injury
Bayern Munich says Croatia striker Ivica Olic will be out of action for six to eight weeks with a hip injury.
Olic was hurt in Saturday's 5-0 win against Hamburger SV after coming on as a substitute. He scored the final goal in what was one of his first matches after being sidelined for nine months due to a knee injury.
Unfortunately for Olic, who was limited to six Bundesliga matches in 2010-11, the new injury occurred during the process of scoring the goal against his former club. Lunging to redirect a header from teammate Holger Badstuber, Olic collided with Hamburg defender Jeffrey Bruma and could be seen wincing and holding his hip in the moments after the goal.
On Sunday, Olic said "this is a disaster. I was so pleased finally to be able to play again. But that's how professional sport is.''
Olic was originally diagnosed by chief medical officer Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt with pelvic bruising, but after examining the 31-year-old attacker on Sunday, Mueller-Wohlfahrt revised his diagnosis, indicating Olic had a partial rupture of a tendon near his right hip.
