Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna has withdrawn from the Italy squad ahead of the World Cup qualifying matches against Armenia and Denmark.

The 24-year-old center-back was included in a 27-man squad named by Cesare Prandelli on Sunday night, but an inflamed prostate gland has forced him out of contention.

AC Milan defender Ignazio Abate sat out training in Coverciano on Monday, due to a cold, with Paris St Germain midfielder Marco Verratti still nursing a bruised foot.

Prandelli has yet to announce a replacement for Ogbonna ahead of Friday night's Group B game against Armenia at the Hrazdan Stadium in Yerevan.
