President Barack Obama has honored the national champions of the Women's Professional Soccer league, the New Jersey-based Sky Blue FC.
The women of Sky Blue FC won the championship in the league's inaugural season and were invited to the White House on Thursday.
As the parent of a daughter who plays soccer, Obama says the team inspired young women to, in his words, ``reach a little higher.''
Obama also acknowledged the Women's Professional Soccer league's ``Get Active'' initiative, which encourages youth to live healthy, active lives.
