NZ names squad for China friendly

New Zealand has included U.S.-based Portland Timbers goalkeeper Jake Gleeson among three newcomers in its squad for an international friendly against later this month.

Coach Ricki Herbert on also named Japan J-League defender Michael Fitzgerald and Australian A-League midfielder Marco Rojas on Friday in his 22-man squad for the March 25 match at Hunan.

Striker Kosta Barbarouses, who was left off the New Zealand squad for last year's World Cup, has been recalled after scoring 11 goals this season for A-League champion Brisbane.

New Zealand was due to play in Japan on March. 29, but withdrew due to safety concerns after last week's massive earthquake and tsunami.
