A hospital in Norway says SK Brann midfielder Carl-Erik Torp is in a stable condition after suffering cardiac arrest during a game in the country's premier league Sunday.

The Haukeland University Hospital said Monday that Torp is ''stable and awake,'' but will stay in hospital for further examination.

Norwegian media reported Torp collapsed with heart failure during Brann's match against Sogndal in the Norwegian premier league on Sunday.

The team's doctor, Atle Kjellsen, told broadcaster NRK he treated Torp with a defibrillator while carrying him off the pitch to get his heart beating again.
