Nolan: Magpies have backbone
After a good start to life back in the Premier League following their promotion last term, the Magpies were beaten at home 2-0 by Blackpool last weekend. However, Nolan, 28, believes the squad at St James' Park has what it takes to overcome disappointment and he draws on their successful campaign in the Championship last time out. He said in The Sun: "Obviously, we won a lot of games last season, so the mentality through pre-season was getting it right and making sure that, if there is the wrong result and we don't play so well, we have got to stick together. "We can't have any of that back-biting, we can't have people pointing fingers. "We are all in this together and must make sure we stick together. We have got that. "There are a great set of lads here. A lot of people knocked us when we went down and again, when we won the trophy, a lot said we would not stay up. "We just have to make sure we prove all those people wrong. "There are a lot of people here who want to prove they are good enough to be in this league because we have not done it yet." Newcastle have the chance to banish the memories of the Blackpool defeat when they travel to Everton on Saturday afternoon.
