Modric's future at White Hart Lane has been the subject of constant conjecture all summer with Chelsea having seen two offers rejected for the Croatian international. The midfielder has declared an interest in moving to Stamford Bridge but Assou-Ekotto insists it has caused no problem in the dressing room. "The mood in the camp is good and there is no problem with Luka," Assou-Ekotto told Sky Sports' website. "We can all understand that Luka would be interested in a move to Chelsea as they are in the Champions League and we are not. "We hope Luka stays as he is such a big player and we need him if we want to get back into the Champions League, but if he leaves we would all wish him well. "It would be a major boost if Luka stayed and he says he is happy to stay if the move does not happen. "He has been back in training and he has not caused any trouble because he is a very good professional."
