New Fleetwood recruit Barry Nicholson is tipping former club Preston for a tilt at promotion from League One this season.
The 34-year-old midfielder moved to Football League new-boys Fleetwood this summer as part of a drastic summer overhaul at Deepdale by boss Graham Westley.
The new-look squad are unbeaten in four matches in all competitions and Nicholson, who spent four years with North End, believes the signs are good.
"I would think they will be in the promotion shake-up," he said.
"He's brought players in that look like they are going to be very hard to beat and to be fair some of the players that they have brought in have got good quality on the ball.
"By all accounts they've played pretty well. I think they will pick up points at home and if they can pick up a good few points away from home they will be there or thereabouts."
