Newcastle wins, maintains Champions League pursuit

Newcastle won a fifth straight Premier League match on Monday to maintain its pursuit of a Champions League spot, beating Bolton 2-0 after a solo effort by Hatem Ben Arfa and Papiss Cisse's 10th goal in nine games.

Ben Arfa dribbled through the defense before finishing with aplomb in the 73rd minute, and Papiss Cisse struck in the 83rd to continue his remarkable scoring run.

Newcastle rose to fifth place, behind Tottenham on goal difference after the London club lost 2-1 to Norwich. Chelsea could go above Spurs and Newcastle and into the fourth Champions League place with a victory at Fulham later Monday.

Bolton stayed in 16th spot but remains in a relegation fight, sitting only one point above 19th-place Wigan.
