Hatem Ben Arfa scored one goal and set up another to give Newcastle a 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Saturday in the Premier League.

Ben Arfa took advantage of poor defending to put his team ahead in the 18th minute, but Villa drew level through Christian Benteke's header in the 67th. Newcastle went back in front in the 73rd when Brad Guzan palmed away the impressive Ben Arfa's shot and substitute Yoan Gouffran pounced.

Since losing its first Premier League game of the season 4-0 against Manchester City, Newcastle has a draw and two wins. Villa, on the other hand, has now lost three games in a row after winning at Arsenal in its league opener.

West Bromwich Albion's first goal in the English Premier League earned the Baggies a 1-1 draw with Fulham on Saturday.

Gareth McAuley rose to meet Chris Brunt's corner in the first minute of injury time to offset a first-half goal by Steve Sidwell, begun from a corner kick.

Fulham's winless streak at home extended to a sixth game, including last season.

West Brom debuted former Everton forward Victor Anichebe and on-loan Marseille midfielder Morgan Amalfitano, with signs they will be effective.
