Tottenham's plans for building a new stadium have been dealt a
setback after a government watchdog criticized aspects of the
project.
Spurs want to build a 56,250-capacity ground adjacent to
their current White Hart Lane site.
But the Commission for Architecture and the Built
Environment, a government adviser, said that it won't support the
club's planning application because it is unhappy about the plans
to also build public housing and a supermarket.
Spurs submitted a planning application last October and the
stadium has been included as a possible venue should England win
its bid to host the World Cup in 2018 or '22.
