Corinthians will build its new stadium in Sao Paulo in accordance with FIFA requirements to be eligible to host the opening match at the 2014 World Cup.
Sao Paulo State Governor Alberto Goldman says the club has told him of its plans.
The stadium's original seating capacity of 45,000 will have to extend to 65,000 to comply with FIFA regulations.
Corinthians said in a statement posted Tuesday on its website that once FIFA approves its stadium plans, the ''costs and financing needs will be worked out.''
