Napoli have been fined 20,000 euros (?17,300) after a section of fans threw firecrackers and flares towards visiting Juventus supporters during a Serie A game.

Juve's team coach was also pelted with projectiles on its trip through Naples to the San Paolo ahead of Friday night's top-of-the-table clash, which finished 1-1, but the Lega Serie A were only able to punish the club for supporters' misbehaviour inside the stadium.

A statement published on cdn.legaseriea.it read: "Napoli receive a fine of 20,000 euros because their supporters launched numerous firecrackers, flares and three bottles into the area occupied by the supporters of the opposing team, without serious consequences."

Roma, Catania and Pescara were also issued with smaller fines as firecrackers were thrown on to home pitches in respective games against Genoa, Inter Milan and Udinese.
