Morgan to join FOX Soccer Sunday
The following press release was distributed by FOX Soccer on November 16, 2011.
FOX Soccer, America’s premier soccer destination, announces former America’s Got Talent judge and CNN talk show host Piers Morgan is slated to join the studio team, providing commentary and analysis for the Chelsea vs. Liverpool match, live on FOX Soccer Sunday, November 20 at 11:00 am ET, with an encore on FOX, airing either before or after NFL coverage (check local listings).
A serious fan of world-class soccer, Piers Morgan will serve as an analyst for both the November 20 match and FOX’s live Premier League match on Super Bowl Sunday, February 5, 2012.
“Piers Morgan brings insight, humor and a keen ability to analyze the game,” said FOX Soccer General Manager David Nathanson. “Aside from being a loyal Arsenal FC fan, he follows the Premier League closely and is a great addition to our broadcast team.”
The epic match between these two legendary teams marks the third time the Barclays Premier League (BPL) airs on US broadcast television. The first two BPL matches drew progressively more viewers each broadcast, with Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal FC (October 2) scoring a 1.1 household rating and 1,626,000 viewers, a +10% rating and +1% audience increase over the FOX broadcast of Manchester United vs. Chelsea, on September 18.
The Chelsea vs. Liverpool match airs live on FOX Soccer and tape-delayed on FOX at either 2:00-4:00 PM ET or 4:30-6:30 PM ET, before or after NFL ON FOX coverage depending on local broadcasting. On single-header Sundays like November 20th, FOX is permitted by NFL regulations to air just one game per market.
