Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell is seeking advice over possibly offering Harry Redknapp a more hands-on role at the club.
Former Tottenham manager Redknapp joined the south coast outfit in an unpaid advisory position earlier this month, but a poor run of form, which came to a head when the Cherries lost 4-0 to Swindon on Saturday, has led to Mitchell contemplating increasing the 65-year-old's presence at the club.
"I have said in the past we have got on our doorstep one of the best managers in the country. I have spoken to Paul about bringing Harry closer and need to discuss it with Harry," he told the Bournemouth Echo.
"It would be one of many steps we would need to take to change and improve. We have got to re-examine everything. We are all trying to gain knowledge from Harry and, hopefully, we will.
"It would be great to be able to have that knowledge around the club and I would like to be able to bring it closer and that is what I am going to try to do."
Redknapp, who took charge of Bournemouth between 1972-76, has previously stated he has no intentions of managing the club for a second spell.
