Missing player, 22, found dead
The search for a Norwegian soccer player reported missing over the weekend ended with the grim discovery of his body on an Oslo construction site Monday.
Tor Marius Gromstad, a 22-year-old defender with top division team Stabaek, was found dead in the central district of St. Hanshaugen on Monday morning while the club was continuing to issue appeals for information on his whereabouts, the VG newspaper reported.
Police said there was no sign that a crime was committed.
Stabaek officials had joined Gromstad's family and friends in the frantic search after he was reported missing Saturday night. He was last seen on CCTV leaving his brother's apartment in Oslo at 7:26am local time Saturday morning.
Gromstad's shocked teammates were informed of his death Monday morning.
Stabaek general manager Hallgeir Andal said, "It is with sadness
that we have received the message that Tor Marius is dead, and our
warmest thoughts are with his family. This is a very difficult day
for all concerned."
