York manager Gary Mills is hoping Peterborough will agree to extend midfielder Danny Kearns' loan spell at Bootham Crescent.

Irishman Kearns, 21, has started in four of York's five fixtures since arriving for an initial month and has already said he would be happy to stay longer with the Minstermen as long as he is playing games.

"He's done very well," Mills said. "We're really pleased with him. He's come into the side and settled in very quickly and has given us something different.

"He gets hold of the ball and he doesn't give it away and he can also create chances.

"I'd like to extend his loan spell. He's playing very well so we'll have to see. He's a couple more weeks left and then we'll see what Peterborough want to do when that's finished."

Kearns started out in West Ham's academy, but was released in the summer of 2010 and returned for a brief spell in Ireland with Dundalk before signing for Peterborough in August 2011.
