Goals from Matias Vuoso and Miguel Layun gave America a 2-0 win over Morelia and top slot in Group 2 of Mexico's Apertura tournament on Sunday.

America's sixth straight game without a loss moved it onto 12 points.

In Sunday's other match, San Luis defeated Pumas 1-0 with Tressor Moreno scoring the winner. The victory left San Luis with 10 points in Group 2. Pumas have 10 points in Group 3.

Cruz Azul defeated Atlas 3-1 on Saturday to move up to 18 points in Group 3 - the top point total in the league. Santos and Monterrey lead Group 1 with 15 points. On Saturday, Santos were trounced 5-2 by Queretaro and Monterrey defeated Tigres 1-0.

Vuoso scored after only five minutes and Layun got his in the 60th after Morelia goalkeeper Federico Vilar was caught off his line.

Horacio Cervantes, Javier Orozco and Christian Gimenez found the net to give Cruz Azul win at Atlas, which is still looking for its first victory.

Cervantes opened the scoring for Cruz Azul with a header in the 15th minute and Orozco added a second in the 34th. Gregorio Torres pulled a goal back for Atlas after a pass from Hebert Alferez in the 75th minute and the game looked to be in the balance when Cervantes was shown a second yellow card and sent off for a tug on Alferez.

But Cruz Azul made the game safe when Gimenez broke free on the edge of the box and hit a low diagonal shot past goalkeeper Jose Canales in the 88th minute.
