Current St Johnstone boss McInnes made 100 appearances for the Baggies between 2000 and 2003 and retains a lot of affection for the club. But he is playing a straight bat over whether he would be interested in linking up again with the Baggies. McInnes said: "I'm in a job at St Johnstone and trying to progress things here. "Obviously I enjoyed my time as a player at Albion. I had a great affection for the club - and still do. I had a fantastic time there. "If I'm doing my job well, then I might be linked with another job but, I must stress, I'm only doing the job in hand. "The chairman will be the first to inform me of anything. "I've been here before in terms of speculation so I'm a wee bit sceptical." Roberto Di Matteo was sacked on Sunday after 18 months at the helm after Albion lost 13 of their last 18 matches. Former Blackburn and Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has already ruled himself out of the running.
