McArthur takes heart from key win
Bottom-of-the-table Latics breathed new life into their survival fight when left-back Maynor Figueroa smashed home a 92nd-minute winner prior to the international break. Wigan are now within two points of safety and host Tottenham on Saturday in good spirits. "Everyone is so optimistic after the Birmingham win that we can pull ourselves out of the relegation zone and survive in the Premier League," said the Scot. "That last-minute goal from Maynor will hopefully set us up for the remainder of the season and in the short-term put us on the right foot for Spurs this weekend. "We want to stay in this league and we don't feel as though we should be in this position as a team, but if you don't take your chances you get punished and that's what has happened at times. Now we need to get ourselves out of this position which we're confident of doing."
