Matic: It took me 'one minute' to decide to rejoin Chelsea
Nemanja Matic has revealed that he did not hesitate to take the chance to return to Chelsea and believes he is now ready to succeed in the Premier League.
Matic spent time at Stamford Bridge between 2009 and 2011 without making much of an impact, before his career blossomed when he moved to Benfica.
The Serbian midfielder was re-signed by the Blues in a big-money January deal, reportedly worth £21million, and he has already impressed with a series of commanding performances for Jose Mourinho's side.
Having played a limited role during his first stint at the club, it could have been a difficult decision for Matic to rejoin, but he insists he jumped at the opportunity.
The 25-year-old, currently preparing for Saturday's clash with Aston Villa, believes he is now mature enough to make his mark in English football.
"I had no doubts about coming back," said Matic. "I spoke with my agent for one minute and that was it. I decide it was good for me to come back.
"To be honest, I didn't know what my contract was going to be. I just said: 'OK, I will go there and after that we will see'. We made a deal and I am happy.
"The first time here I was very young and Chelsea had big players in my position: (Michael) Ballack, (Frank) Lampard, (Michael) Essien. I also came here injured, I was four months out so it was difficult for me.
"I feel now is right moment for me to play Premier League. It is not easy for young players in the Premier League because it is very hard, very tough. Now I feel I am prepared.
"I want to use this chance to play for a big club in a big league and work with a coach like Jose Mourinho, who is one of the best in the world."
