Manchester City forward Mario Balotelli faces a four-match suspension after being charged by the English Football Association with violent conduct for appearing to stomp on an opponent's head.
The Italian trampled on the right ear of Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker during a Premier League match Sunday.
Balotelli, who had already received a yellow card, escaped without any sanction from referee Howard Webb. He went on to earn a penalty kick and converted it in second-half injury time to give City a 3-2 win.
The FA decided Monday to charge Balotelli, giving him until Wednesday evening to respond.

Because Balotelli already has been ejected once this season, he would be banned for four matches instead of the usual three if found guilty.
