Manchester United has become the first English club to sign a sponsor for its training uniforms, securing a deal with express delivery and freight firm DHL worth around $66 million.

The four-year deal with the subsidiary of Germany's Deutsche Post AG eclipses many of the main shirt sponsorship deals at rival clubs.

United's match-day uniforms are still sponsored by Chicago-based insurance broker Aon Corp. in a four-year deal worth around $130 million.

Monday's sponsorship announcement came a week after it emerged that United's American owner, the Glazer family, has submitted an application for a partial flotation on the Singapore stock exchange to help cut the club's debts of more than $825 million.

The Glazers also own the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
