Man City v Reading preview

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini hopes to have captain Vincent Kompany available to face Reading.

The defender missed last week's win at Newcastle United with a groin problem while midfielder James Milner is also close to fitness after a hamstring injury.

Forward Samir Nasri (hamstring) has been ruled out and full-back Aleksandar Kolarov is also unavailable due to a knee injury.

Reading striker Jason Roberts will miss the trip to the Etihad Stadium with a hip problem.

Jem Karacan (knee), Jimmy Kebe (groin) and Danny Guthrie (thigh) should be available but Sean Morrison (ankle) is still sidelined.

Alex McCarthy is out long-term after undergoing shoulder surgery.
