Malmo secured its 16th Swedish league title Sunday after beating Mjallby 2-0 with two first-half goals by Jiloan Hamad and Agon Mehmeti.

Hamad gave Malmo the lead in the 17th minute from a pass from Daniel Larsson, who also provided the second goal for Agon Mehmeti in the 45th.

After the win, hordes of Malmo supporters stormed the field at Malmo Stadium to celebrate.

It is the first win for the team since 2004.

''The feeling has been amazing during the entire game. I have never experienced a setting like this before. I had goose bumps already during the lineup,'' Larsson said after the game.

''We're simply the best team this year. That's just the way it is,'' winger Guillermo Molins added.

Malmo came into the game level on points with Helsingborg, but with a superior goal difference. Helsingborg could only manage a 0-0 draw against Kalmar FF in its final game, handing Malmo the title by two points.

Orebro was third with 52 points. Last year's champion, AIK, finished 11th after a disappointing season. Atvidabergs FF and IF Brommapojkarna were relegated to the second division.
