A Malaysian coach has pleaded innocent to charges of match-fixing in a domestic youth tournament.

Malaysia's national news agency Bernama reported that Yusarman Yusof was charged in a district court Monday with giving bribes totaling nearly 25,000 ringgit ($8,000) to 11 players of his state team in southern Negri Sembilan state.

Yusarman was accused of trying to get his players to allow an opposing club to score at a match on April 21 in Malaysia's President's Cup competition, which is for under-20 players.

Yusarman faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine if convicted. The court scheduled a preliminary hearing for July 5.
