Julio Baptista has joined Malaga from AS Roma on a three-and-a-half year deal after passing a medical.

The 29-year-old Brazil forward scored 15 goals in 75 appearances for Roma after his arrival in 2008. Details of his transfer to Malaga have not been made public.

Malaga is Baptista's third Spanish team. He played for Sevilla for two seasons before joining Real Madrid in 2005, where he helped win the 2007-08 league title. He also spent a season on loan with Arsenal in England.

Malaga, which is 16th in the Spanish league, just three points clear of the relegation zone, has made a number of midseason signings, including Argentina defender Martin Demichelis from Bayern Munich.
