Magath not looking at title push
Schalke manager Felix Magath was more concerned with what is taking
place over his shoulder rather than considering a title tilt this
season.
The Royal Blues moved 13 points clear of sixth-placed Werder
Bremen with yesterday's 2-0 triumph over Hoffenheim and qualifying
for Europe, not necessarily winning the title, remains Magath's
priority.
"I am looking more at places six and seven than the top," he
said.
"I am not focusing on the top of the table at all, but rather
concentrating on these two positions.
"I know there are still 14 games to be played and we must
ensure that we increase this gap."
His side threw away a two-goal lead to only draw with Bochum
last weekend and Magath had requested a win, even if the
performance was not up to scratch.
And that is precisely what he got.
"It was not a perfect evening, but it was a good one," he
said.
"I am happy that my team showed a good reaction because
people have started to come and say we are going into a crisis
after the 2-2 draw with Bochum.
"Therefore I am glad we showed the opposite and kept the
three points here."
