Magath frustrated by lack of leaders

Schalke coach Felix Magath admits his team are lacking a leader on the pitch, after they lost ground on Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.

The Royal Blues lost 4-2 at struggling Hannover at the weekend, and Magath feels his team could do with someone in the mould of Bayern Munich's Mark van Bommel to help their cause.

"If (goalkeeper) Manuel Neuer player 30 metres further forward he would be the ideal captain," Magath told the Bild newspaper.

"Without a leader we, having made it 2-2 in Hannover, immediately did too little again.

"We need someone like Mark van Bommel, who prevents that. Peer Kluge is not playing at his limit. Heiko Westermann is under so much pressure that he is not developing further at this moment in time.

"Either someone grows into the leadership role or we have to get one."
