Real Madrid has signed forward Jose Callejon from Espanyol, its third signing of the close season.

The 24-year-old Callejon, who agreed to a five-year deal, came up through Madrid's youth ranks before leaving for the Barcelona-based club at the start of the 2008-09 season, where he scored 10 goals in 97 appearances for Espanyol.

Madrid has already acquired Turkey midfielders Nuri Sahin from German champion Borussia Dortmund and Hamit Altintop from Bayern Munich.

Madrid ended a two-season run without silverware by beating Barcelona for the Copa del Rey. It finished second to Barcelona in the league for the third consecutive year and also bowed out of the Champions League semifinal stage to its great rival.
