Real Madrid great Alfredo Di Stefano has been released from hospital after being monitored for a heart problem.

The 84-year-old Argentine left Madrid's La Moraleja Hospital on Saturday after being admitted on July 23.

Di Stefano has a history of heart problems, and Madrid says he will now join his family on holidays.

Di Stefano, who is honorary president at Madrid, also spent nine days in the hospital earlier this month after doctors discovered a respiratory infection during a checkup.

He scored an estimated 890 goals in a 22-year career and led Madrid to five straight European Cup titles in the 1950s, helping transform the Spanish club into a global force.
