Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel looks likely to be on the sidelines for several weeks after scans showed he broke a metatarsal bone in his right foot.

The Slovakia international was carried from the field in Thursday's 3-1 Europa League win at Unirea Urziceni.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez says "we have to check over the next couple of days how long it will take to recover."

But Benitez says fullback Glen Johnson should be fit to return soon after two months out with a knee injury. The England international has returned to light training.
