Liverpool has confirmed the signing of Serbia forward Milan Jovanovic on a three-year contract.

The 29-year-old joins from Standard Liege after his contract with the Belgian club expired.

Jovanovic, who was part of Serbia's World Cup squad, tells the Liverpool website he ``cannot wait'' to work with new manager Roy Hodgson.

The transfer was originally agreed while Rafael Benitez was still in charge at Anfield.

Jovanovic added that he is ``looking forward to joining up with my new teammates on our Swiss training camp.''

Jovanovic spent four years with Liege after joining from Lokomotiv Moscow.

He scored the winning goal in Serbia's 1-0 win over eventual semifinalist Germany in South Africa.
