UEFA chose Lisbon's Stadium of Light on Tuesday to host the 2014 Champions League final.

UEFA's executive committee selected the 65,000-capacity home ground of Benfica, a quarterfinalist in this season's competition, at the opening of a two-day meeting.

This season's final is played May 19 at Bayern Munich's home stadium. The 2013 final is at Wembley Stadium in London.

Lisbon last staged Europe's showpiece club match in 1967, when Celtic beat Inter Milan 2-1 at National Stadium.

The Stadium of Light was rebuilt before the 2004 European Championship and staged the final, in which Portugal lost 1-0 to Greece.

Also Tuesday, UEFA's ruling committee chose the new Juventus Stadium in Turin to host the 2014 Europa League final.

UEFA also awarded the 2015 Under-21 European Championship to the Czech Republic.
