Lazio coach Edy Reja has signed a one-year contract extension with the Biancoceleste outfit which will keep him at the club until June 2012.

The 65-year-old's previous deal ended this summer. Reja had been linked with a return to Napoli earlier this month, prior to the Naples club announcing that coach Walter Mazzarri would remain in charge.

"I can confirm it's official that Reja will stay with us,'' Lazio president Claudio Lotito said.

"I always said that there ware no problems between us.

"He has signed a one-year contract because this is what he prefers.''

Reja replaced Davide Ballardini at the helm of Lazio in 2009 and guided them team out of the relegation zone and into a mid-table finish.

Lazio narrowly missed out on a top-four finish this season, with the Rome outfit ending level on 66 points with Udinese.

Udinese will play in the Champions League next season while Lazio, who had a worse head-to-head record than the Bianconeri, will compete in the Europa League.
