The England midfielder has not always been a first-choice pick for club and country this season, with more time spent on the bench than he is used to. He has, however, offered the perfect response to those suggesting his powers are on the wane. Many have been quick to write off his international career, while hinting that the clock is ticking on his days at Stamford Bridge. Lampard has refused to read too much into such reports and has remained fully focused on his football. He has seen those efforts rewarded in style, with three goals against Bolton on Sunday helping Chelsea to a 5-1 victory at the Reebok Stadium. That treble came on the back of a midweek strike against Valencia in the Champions League and Lampard hopes he has proved a point to his critics. He said: "There's only one way to answer the critics. Today was the day when it all came together for me and I'm pleased. "It was one of the most special hat-tricks I have had after the time I've had. I'm hungry to play. I'm not a happy boy when I'm not playing. I want to earn my money. "But I also have respect for the manager and players in the squad. I'll always work hard to play for this club." Lampard's heroics at the Reebok were not lost on England boss Fabio Capello, as he has included the 33-year-old in his squad for Friday's crucial Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro. Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is not surprised to see Lampard get the nod, with the Portuguese tactician of the opinion that the midfielder is back to his best. He said: "He arrived with perfect timing in the box as he has done in the past. His talent has never been in question."
