Kranjcar fires warning to Liverpool

Niko Kranjcar says Tottenham will be looking to put some daylight between themselves and Liverpool on Wednesday in the battle for fourth place.

The two teams meet at Anfield in midweek with Spurs occupying fourth spot, level on points with Manchester City and four ahead of Liverpool in seventh.

Harry Redknapp's men missed the chance to extend their advantage over their top four rivals at the weekend, after being held 0-0 at home to Hull City, with City losing to Everton and Liverpool and Aston Villa both drawing.

However Kranjcar, who has impressed since his cut-price move from Portsmouth in the summer, believes Spurs can go to Merseyside and bring back all three points.

"We want it (fourth place)," he told the Daily Star. "We said that from day one. We never hid our ambitions and we believe we can do it.

"It is a good time to play Liverpool, but they are a massive team and we are still going away from home.

"Do we believe we can win that game? Yes we do. We believe in our qualities. We have beaten Liverpool once already this season but they are only four points behind us.

"They might be in a bad season, but they are only four points behind us. They have every right to believe they can make it to the Champions League.

"It's going to be a massive game for us. I really expect them to be at their top level, but so will we. It's an important game to put some breathing space between us and them."
