Chris Klein and Juninho scored second-half goals as the Los Angeles Galaxy defeated AC St. Louis 2-0 on Tuesday night in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup.
After receiving byes for the first two rounds, the Galaxy advanced to the quarterfinals on July 7 against the winner of Wednesday's Portland-Seattle match.
AC St. Louis, a first-year team from USSF Division II, snapped its two-game Open Cup winning streak.
Klein scored the first goal in the 70th minute when his shot from just outside the penalty area went over St. Louis goalkeeper Alec Dufty's head. Juninho, meanwhile, doubled the lead when he scored from nearly the same spot in the 80th minute.
