Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson hinted Dave Kitson is on his way to winning a place in his starting XI.

Kitson, who agreed a short-term deal with the Blades after leaving Portsmouth this summer, is yet to make his full debut for the club.

But after another impressive contribution from the bench in the goalless draw with Doncaster on Tuesday, the 32-year-old may have thrust himself into pole position for a starting place.

"There's absolutely no doubt about that," Wilson told the Sheffield Star. "He's a quality player - we knew that when he came in - and he gives us a different option.

"Their lads at the back knew they'd been in a game. We'll see how Dave recovers but, if you asked him, he'd say he would be ready to play again in half an hour."

United head to Yeovil on Saturday in search of their first win in four outings after three successive draws.
