Kana-Biyik worry for Rennes
Rennes defender Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik could miss the rest of the season after suffering broken ribs in last Saturday's Coupe de la Ligue final defeat to St Etienne, the Ligue 1 club have confirmed.
Kana-Biyik collided with ASSE goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier during the match and his loss would be a blow for Rennes as they bid to finish the season strongly.
A statement on Rennes' official website, www.staderennais.com, said: "Following a knee by Ruffier in the Coupe de la Ligue final, Rennes defender Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik is severely compromised for the end of the season.
"The scan today revealed a rib fracture, rupture of alveoli and pulmonary parenchymal hematoma."
The news comes on the day that Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti announced he will leave the post at the end of the season.
