Kagawa heading toward Borussia Dortmund exit
Borussia Dortmund will examine offers for Shinji Kagawa after the Japan star declined the club's contract extension offer.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told German daily Bild on Tuesday that he met the player's agent on Monday and Kagawa ''will definitely not be extending his contract with us.''
The 23-year-old Kagawa has one year left on his contract with the two-time Bundesliga champion.
Zorc indicated Dortmund was ready to negotiate ''should offers arrive for Kagawa now.''
Dortmund paid ?350,000 to Japanese side Cerezo Osaka for Kagawa in 2010, but his sparkling performances over two years in the Bundesliga are likely to command a much higher fee.
The attacking midfielder's 21 goals in 49 league games over two seasons played a large part in helping Dortmund achieve successive titles.
Kicker magazine reported on Tuesday that Kagawa flew with his agent to Manchester on Monday evening.
Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson attended the German Cup final in Berlin on Saturday, when Kagawa scored one goal and set up another to help Dortmund rout Bayern Munich 5-2 in what may have been his last game for the club.
