Jose Mourinho told Manchester United players to give jerseys to fans as Christmas gift

After Manchester United picked up a cool three points with a 2-0 win over West Ham, the Red Devils didn't just applaud the away support. They went over, took their shirts off and gave them to fans in the away end.

All of this was under the instruction of Jose Mourinho. The Manchester United boss insisted they give the fans their shirts in their final match before  Christmas.

"I told them to do that, [it's] Christmas time. A shirt for a fan, coming direct from the game with sweat, means a lot," Mourinho said after the match.

"For [United players], it is just another shirt that they would give to the kit man, or give to some friend, or they change with some West Bromwich Albion friends. I think to a fan it means a lot.

"It is a pity that not everyone can get one but, for the ones who get it, I think it is a great feeling."

Mourinho is right. Those shirts will mean everything to the fans who got them. They'll be treasured forever and truly make their Christmas.

Mourinho can be called many things, some of them not so great, but he can definitely be a softie and he has great respect for his team's supporters. He knows how much the club means to them and how much they put into their club. So when he has the chance to give back a bit, or tell his players to, he is usually the first to ensure it gets done. Just like he did here.

Merry Christmas, United fans. You have three straight wins and, for a few of you, a match-worn United shirt.
