Jones nearing Wolves comeback
Jones suffered a gashed foot during his side's 3-2 triumph over the Black Cats, and was forced to spend 48 hours in hospital when the wound became infected. However, while Sunday's Black Country derby at West Brom could come too early for the 26-year-old, Jones expects to return to action in the near future. He told Wolves' official website: "The infection seems to be clearing up so it's just going to be a case of what I can do now really and whether I can do everything I need to. "It's looking hopeful and while I'm not sure about being available for the weekend it should certainly be soon. "Now the doc is happy that the infection is under control we'll just have to see if I can get out training at the end of the week. "It will just be a case of whether, if I keep progressing, I can still do what I need to without any pain." Wolves are currently second-bottom of the Premier League having suffered some poor results this term, but travel to the Hawthorns on the back of an encouraging 1-0 triumph at home to Birmingham last weekend. And former Manchester United man Jones is looking forward to visiting fierce Midlands rivals Albion, whether he is involved in the action or not. "It's unfortunate that I've had this injury because this is a game I'd love to try to be involved in," added Jones. "Talking to fans all season they keep mentioning this game. "It means a lot to them and I don't think we've had a great record against them in recent years. "Hopefully that will change, particularly coming on the back of a good win on Saturday which will give the lads plenty of confidence to keep climbing out of the situation we are in."
