One-time England international Francis Jeffers has agreed to play at Australian club Newcastle Jets for 10 weeks after five months without a club.
The A-League team signed the 29-year-old former Everton and Arsenal striker in the hope that its young players benefit from his topflight experience.
Jeffers scored against Australia on his only international appearance when a weak England side lost 3-1 to the Socceroos in 2003.
Jeffers is likely to make his debut against Adelaide on Nov. 13 and says he wants to ''to assist the Jets to climb up the ladder during my time here.''

Jeffers has been without a club since Sheffield Wednesday released him following its relegation to England's third tier in May.
